Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences highlights role of pharmacists in clinical research
Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS) has highlighted the role of pharmacists in clinical research.
The college which is attached to the Manipal Health Enterprises (MHE) a leading healthcare provider, operates its medical centre network under the brand of ‘Manipal Hospitals’ manages an aggregate of 5,000 beds among 15 hospitals, over 11 locations across 5 states in India.
On the occasion of the Pharmacists Day observed on September 25, the College had Dr Nandini K Kumar, Former Deputy Director General Sr Grade, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) as Chief Guest for the programme.
Speaking on the role of pharmacists, Dr Kumar, highlighted the principles of ethics in Clinical Research and emphasized the role of Pharmacists in Clinical Research.
The event which was organized under the aegis of Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Manipal Branch.
Dr N Udupa, Research Director (Health Sciences), Manipal University briefed about the Pharmacists Day Celebration.
Three students, Achyuth, Ms Prachi and Ms Tasneem from M Pharm (Department of Pharmacy Management), B Pharm (Fourth Year) and Pharm D (Fifth Year), spoke on the theme “Pharmacists Roles – Past, Present and Future.”
Dr C Mallikarjuna Rao, Principal, MCOPS encouraged students to think out of the box and uplift the profession of pharmacy. He said that the future of pharmacy profession is in the hands of the students.
An essay writing competition was conducted and prizes were given away to the winners. The first prize was bagged by Sagarika (M Pharm, Drug Regulatory Affairs), second and third prizes went to Anirudh (M Pharm, Pharmaceutical Marketing) and Priyatham Ranjan (First Year B Pharm).
Rajesh R, Assistant Professor, Senior Scale Lecturer spoke on Pharmaceutical Care Services.
Dr D Sreedhar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacy Management and Secretary, IPA Manipal Branch concluded the Pharmacists Day celebrations programme.
