MCOPS conducts quality improvement programme

The Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS) held a quality improvement programme for pharmacy teachers from November 7 to 19, 2005. The programme sponsored by AICTE was inaugurated by Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, registrar, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE).

The programme was conducted under the aegis of three departments of MCOPS - Department of Pharmacology, Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Department of Pharmacy Management.

The first four days of the workshop were conducted by the Department of Pharmacology. Prof. Ravindranath Shanbhag from the host department delivered the first lecture of the workshop, wherein he threw light on the ethics in research. Dr. M. K. Unnikrishnan, additional professor, Department of Pharmacology, gave an overview of the antioxidant therapy.

The last four days of the seminar (Nov 16-19) were organised by the Department of Pharmacy Management.

Dr. Gopakumar Nair, one of the authorities on patents, provided a brief synopsis on the challenges faced in the post TRIPS era by the Indian pharma companies and highlighted various amendments made in Indian Patents Act, 1970. Dr. K. Srinivasa Rao, KLE Management Institute, Belgaum, explained the marketing research methodologies.
