MCOPS holds seminar on trends in marketing of cosmeceuticals and
biopharmaceuticals
The Department of Pharmacy Management, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS) with the help of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has rolled out a three-day seminar on 'Trends in the marketing of cosmeceuticals and biopharmaceuticals.' The seminar was held from January 29 to 31, 2007.
Inaugurating the seminar, Dr H Vinod Bhat, registrar, Manipal University, stressed on the importance of research in pharmaceutical sciences and the need to get adequate funds for carrying out quality research.
The seminar began with a session on nutraceuticals by Ajay Pise. The seminar also featured sessions on 'cosmeceuticals' by Virendra Ligade, 'the Indian perspectives of clinical research regulations' by Eswara Reddy, CDSCO, Mumbai and 'the future prospects of biotherapeutics' by Dr Rajendran, US vitamins, Mumbai. Symposiums and panel discussions that were held as part of the seminar provided the participants with a platform to interact with experts in the field and academia.
The seminar also had sessions on emerging retail business in the pharma sector, product positioning for nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals and biopharmaceutical products, human capital and emerging India and customer relation management practices for doctors.
According to the organizers, about 70 postgraduates and teaching faculty from both in and out the campus participated in the seminar.
