Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS) released its Newsletter ‘Ad Meliora’ on the occasion of the World Pharmacists Day.
The event was organised under the aegis of Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Manipal Branch and International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR), Karnataka Chapter.
Dr Ranjan Shetty, professor, department of cardiology was the chief guest for the programme.
Dr C Mallikarjuna Rao, Principal, MCOPS, briefed about the significance of Pharmacists’ Day observed annually on September 25. He, released MCOPS Newsletter Ad Meliora and highlighted the role of pharmacists in healthcare.
Ad Meliora will now have students and faculty reporting events held at MCOPS for publication in the newsletter.
An essay writing competition was conducted and prizes were given away to the winners. The first prize was bagged by Zoya Ahmed, PharmD, second and third prizes went to Sana (BPharm) and Janki Raj Chauhan (PharmD), respectively.
Three students, Lalith Kumar Mittal (I M Pharm Pharmacy Management), Shweta Bhatt (IV B Pharm) and Mr Shoban Ojha(III Pharm D) spoke on the theme for the event ‘Pharmacy Profession in India – Past, Present and Future”.
Dr N Udupa, Research Director (Health Sciences), Manipal University briefed about the pharmacy education and its objective. Dr Manthan D Janodia, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacy Management, spoke about “Unconventional Career Opportunities for Pharmacists”. Sambit Dash, Lecturer, Biochemistry, Melaka Manipal Medical College spoke on Multitasking.
Dr. D Sreedhar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacy Management and Secretary, IPA Manipal Branch, proposed the vote of thanks.
