Medanta launches O-ARM enabled SpineSuite to strengthen neuroscience field
In its constant endeavour to bring the latest and the most cutting-edge technology for the benefit of patients, Medanta recently launched the SpineSuite with O-ARM system. With this acquisition, Medanta Institute of Neurosciences further strengthens its already remarkable reputation in the field of neurosciences. The first-of-its-kind in a private hospital in entire North India, will considerably enhance the surgical as well as the diagnostic capabilities of Medanta in pre, during and post-operative scenarios.
The SpineSuite System comprises of three key parts - O-Arm O2 Intra-operative Imaging System, the StealthStation Surgical Navigation System and the NIM-Eclipse Nerve Monitoring System.
Usually all, spinal and cranial surgeries are done based on the clinical tests and diagnostic images (MRI or CT) done outside the operating room. Once inside the Operating Room, the actual human anatomy can present itself quite different and hence make it difficult for the surgeon to locate the exact coordinate in order to perform the surgery with high accuracy.
Complementing existing BrainSuite, our high precision Intra-Operative Imaging system for cranial cases, O-Arm O2enabled SpineSuite makes the navigation in spinal cases very easy and highly accurate. It is like a GPS system for the spine, it helps the surgeon visualize the exact coordinates of the surgical area, real time.
The O-Arm O2 Intra-operative Imaging System and StealthStation Surgical Navigation System takes the intra-operative imaging to a new level. Designed for use by surgeons in operating rooms, the O-arm O2 Imaging System, is movable in and out of the operating room during a surgery, which provides high-quality imaging for intra-operative purposes. Offering full mobility and providing both 2D and 3D images along with the capability of a giving a full 360 degree scan, O-Arm O2 is considered a generational improvement over existing common technology C-arm which was only adept to provide 2D images.
The NIM-Eclipse Nerve Monitoring System, helps monitor and minimise the nerve injury by continuous monitoring of the electric potentials in the nerves of the region being operated. It alerts surgeons of changes in nerve potentials (a possible indicator of nerve injury) allowing them to make immediate adjustments.
Speaking on the launch, Dr. Trehan, chairman and managing director, Medanta said, “The SpineSuite with O-Arm O2system, is by far the most advanced system in spinal surgery that combines imaging, navigation and nerve monitoring to offer the best treatment. It is yet another example of Medanta’s commitment to its patient and being dedicated to life. It is also our promise that we will continue to invest in technology that makes treatment safer and improves clinical outcomes for our patients.”
“The SpineSuite with O-Arm O2 system helps surgeons to better control the outcome of surgeries through real time monitoring and prediction. The high definition, real time 3D imaging helps surgeons are able to better diagnose the problem and perform complex minimally invasive surgeries. All this with significantly reduced radiation exposure to both the surgeon and the patient,” added Dr. AN Jha, chairman, Medanta Institute of Neurosciences.
