The Chennai based Medfort Hospitals Pvt. Ltd (Medfort), a leading healthcare institution focused on eye care and diabetes, has acquired the Hyderabad based Maxivision Eye Hospitals (Maxivision) in an all-cash deal. Maxivision is a renowned eye care chain headquartered in Hyderabad.

In the media briefing about the merger of the two organisations, Dr G S K Velu, chairman, Medfort Hospitals and Dr Kasu Prasad Reddy, chairman and managing director, Maxivision were present. They said the combined form of the two organisations will be known as Medfort Maxivision Group.

Dr Kasu Prasad Reddy, one of the best Refractive Ophthalmic surgeons in the world and founder of Maxivision Eye Hospitals, will be spearheading the combined entity as a co-chairman and heading all eye-care initiatives of the joint entity. The new entity will shortly launch a 12 eye-hospital network, with presence in 6 cities, namely, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Vishakhapatanam, Vijayawada and UAE.

Dr GSK Velu said henceforth all the eye care activities of Medfort Group will be rebranded as Maxivision Eyecare and Maxivision Lasik Suites across India. The group will house refractive Lasik Suites combining Supracor and Intracor to provide Lasik treatment, including presbyopic lasik treatment for all class of patients. He further said Medfort has seized the opportunity provided by the lacuna in synergized, high quality Vision Care and Diabetes Care to emerge as the largest day care chain in the country.

According to him Maxivision, a technological leader in Refractive Eyecare, has many firsts to its credit, including the first site to house the Asia's First Femtosecond Cataract Lasik Suite in Hyderabad. He hopes to expand Maxivision’s network to include 50 hospitals across 20 cities within the next 12 months.

Dr K P Reddy said the new entity will continue to be the technology and clinical excellence leader in eye care services, and clinical research in to eye diseases and vision-threatening conditions. “Technological superiority, best in class Ophthalmologists, and friendly ambience and customer services resulting in best clinical outcome will be the focus of all activities within Maxivision Eyecare and Lasik Suite initiatives,” he added.

Dr Reddy also announced the entry of Maxivision into Chennai. Maxivision’s Chennai facility will be the first in India to house the best in class comprehensive eyecare, endocrine and diabetic care under one roof.
