The facility will allow local and regional customers to investigate, explore and optimize their separations, purifications and monitoring processes and be supported by the company's local, regional and international experts. The company will also offer training courses beginning March 2009.

"We offer top notch expertise and high level support worldwide. As our global customers expand in Singapore we need to be right there with them. This new facility continues and enhances the local support we have provided for more than 25 years in Singapore. When many of our biopharmaceutical manufacturing customers began to establish significant operations in Asia, we saw a need," stated Martin Madaus, chairman, president and CEO, Millipore Corporation.

Millipore India Chairman, Subhash Bagaria and president, Sudhir Kant were present on the occasion along with MS Mahadevan, VP, who heads the bioprocess business at the Indian operations.

"The new regional training facility leverages Singapore's position as a strategic base for global biomedical sciences companies," said Beh Kian Teik, director, Biomedical Sciences, Singapore Economic Development Board. The facility marks the beginning of a strategic partnership with Singapore to accelerate growth in this region, and further strengthen Millipore's position as a leader in Asia, he added.

The life science technology company has been training people for over five decades. "In Singapore, it will offer training courses through its team of international experts who have application and process expertise. This training is the key to success for our biopharmaceutical manufacturing customers," said Brian Yau, vice president, Millipore Asia-Bioprocess Division.
