Millipore India the $800 million Massachusetts-based biotechnology firm has set up two new labs at its existing facility in Bangalore. One is a process development lab and the other an access services laboratory.

The process development lab will assist in developing and scaling up biotechnology processes and the access lab will assist Indian biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in meeting the international regulatory requirements.

"The labs have been set up to fully tap India's potential as an emerging research and development hub for the biotech and pharma sectors, said Francis J Lunger, chairman and CEO, of Millipore, who was in India recently.

Millipore has also transferred a substantial part of the company's software work to Bangalore.
