Millipore wins US Environment Protection Agency Award

Millipore, the life science lab equipment major, has bagged one of the top US Awards for protecting the environment. The US Environment Protection Agency (EPA), New England, finalized the winner as Millipore for its work and commitment to the environment in 2004.

The EPA Merit Award recognizes the significant contributions towards preserving and protecting our natural resources, according to Robert Varney, EPA regional administrator. In this connection, Millipore’s efforts in recycling and re-using process water have come in for special praise.

The award recognizes the company efforts in positively managing the environmental impacts while maintaining successful and efficient manufacturing operations, stated a company release.

Earlier, the company made it to the Top 100 in Business Ethics after being adjudged by an annual ranking study done by ‘The Boston Globe’ newspaper. In the study done annually, the Top 100 companies are ranked by composite performance, which takes into account factors like revenues, return on investments to name a few. Information for the study is collected and analyzed by Standard & Poor’s based on criteria developed by Boston Globe.
