MM College of Pharmacy imparts pharmacy practice training to teachers
MM College of Pharmacy, Ambala has gone ahead to increase the knowledge levels of its faculty via a training programme for Pharmacy Practice Teachers on ‘Rationale Use of Medicines and Disease’. The sessions were organised under the aegis of Haryana State Pharmacy Council and Indian Hospital Pharmacist’s Association (IHPA) in collaboration with MM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research.
The key objective of the event was to increase the level of awareness of the pharmacy teachers on the daily activities of practicing pharmacist, practical aspects of patient case studies, dissemination of drug related information, procedures of detection and monitoring adverse drug reactions/events and understanding issues related to drug therapies with especial emphasis on role of pharmacist in rationale use of medicines and disease management.
During this training programme the participants were given practical training in various departments of hospital to understand and managing various disease cases.
SL Nasa, Registrar HSPC & President, IHPA inaugurated the programme along with Dr AK Adhikari, chief Pharmacist, St. Stephen’s Hospital, New Delhi & Treasurer, IHPA.
In keynote address Nasa highlighted various aspects of pharmacy practice and its regulations in India.
Dr AK Adhikari discussed the types of medication errors and methods to overcome these while practicing and dispensing pharmaceuticals to patients at Pharmacy outlet.
Dr Shyam Sunder Sharma, Professor of Pharmacology, (NIPER) discussed Challenges in the Discovery and Development of CNS Therapeutics for the Management of CNS disorders.
Dr. Shardendu Bali, professor, Department of Surgery, MM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (MMIMSR) highlighted the practical aspects of rationale use of drugs and pharmaceutical devices.
Dr Rani Walia, Coordinator of ADR monitoring center & Head Dept of Pharmacology, MMIMSR, Ambala discussed about role of pharmacist in detection and monitoring ADRs encountered during clinical practice.
Dr Poonam Sheoran, Principal of Nursing Institute, MM University provided various aspects and errors likely to occur while administering and storage the medicines.
Dr Manoj Sharma, Sr. Scientist & Manager Global Operations (Pharmacovigilance), Panacea Biotec discussed about Regulatory requirements and Pharmacovigilance of Vaccines and Rationale Medicine use.
During training programme faculty from Medical Science of MMIMSR also shared their views about optimal medicine use in management of diseases. Dr Subhash Goel, (Surgery Dept), Dr Kiran Singal (Medicine Dept), Dr Ashish (Ortho paedics), Dr Masumi from (Psychiatric) and Dr Gurdeep (Paediatric Dept.) and Dr Praveen Mohan (Gynaecology) addressed various aspects of the theme of programme.
During the training programme participants were escorted to Medicine, orthopaedic, Psychiatric, Paediatric, Surgery, ENT, and TB & Chest wards of 1000 bedded hospital of MMIMSR. Participants studied and learnt from various diseases at bedside of patients and obtained hands on training about their medications and procedures.
