MP Professional Exam Board cancels results of pre-PG entrance for medical, dental courses
The Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board on Saturday cancelled the entire results of pre-PG entrance examinations for medical and dental courses announced on March 27. A fresh set of results with number of changes has been announced by the Board.
The changes had brought out questions on the credibility of the board and thrown allegations of corruption at the authorities involved.
The board has blamed the faux pas on a major technical fault that led to deletion of an entire set of roll numbers from the computerized list.
The PEB authorities took the step after reports of large-scale irregularities in the results, especially in relation to the students of Jabalpur center of the examination. None of these students found place in the first set of results declared by the board.
Soon after they realized their mistake, the PEB sealed the first set of results announced on March 28 and a three-member emergency committee was constituted to look into the matter. According to PEB Director Prof Y C Uparit, once the fault was found, the entire results were redone.
Showing unusual alacrity, the board managed to announce the fresh result within 48 hours of the first one. After the tests on March 9, the results were due on March 16, but got delayed till March 27.
A number of changes were effected in the new results, though the first three ranks didn't change. Vikram Chaitharth (Raipur), Kavita Deria (Bhopal) and Prashant Kumar Nageshwar (Bhopal) continue to top the MD/MS merit list.
The entrance tests were conducted for admission to the MD/MS courses and MDS course in medical and dental colleges of Madhya Pradesh on March 9. A total of 1739 medical and 32 dental graduates had appeared in the examinations.
As per the fresh results, a total of 426 students have qualified for the courses out of whom around 85 are in the waiting list. The merit list of the unreserved category includes 162 candidates (cut-off marks 615), 64 candidates 64 candidates have qualified in the scheduled caste category (cut-off marks 432) and 55 in OBC category (cut-off marks 360). Two students qualified for the MDS course, while four were put in this waiting list.
According to Uparit, the matter is being investigated thoroughly to find out what exactly went wrong - whether it was a case of negligence or mala fide intensions. Responsibility will soon be fixed and appropriate action will be initiated. The detailed report will be submitted shortly.
