Medical Surgery Technologies Ltd.(MST), a leader in the field of advanced image-based robotic technology, announced that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared the Follow Me software designed for minimally invasive robotic surgery. Follow Me is an advanced function of MST’s AutoLap, an image-guided laparoscope positioning system.

Powered by MST’s image-based intelligence technology, AutoLap enables full and natural control of the surgical procedure with minimal user interaction.

Follow Me enables the image-guided laparoscope to follow laparoscopic surgical tools without manual control. Using MST’s image analysis software, Follow Me allows the surgeon to virtually tag the surgical tools within the surgical cavity. The system interacts with the surgeon’s in-vivo movements and gestures, guiding the robotic laparoscope positioner to follow the surgeon’s tools in real time. With the Follow Me software the surgeon is able to fully focus on the procedure with an optimized surgical field of view, image stability and minimal distractions.

“Securing FDA clearance for the Follow-Me software is a major milestone for MST, making AutoLap the only market-approved image-based system with image-guided functions for various minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures,” said Motti Frimer, CEO of MST.

“We are already commercialising AutoLap with the Follow Me software in Europe, and we now look forward to expanding marketing and sales of the surgeon-focused system in the US in 2016.”
