Multimedics' M’Sure-S sirolimus DES gets CE certification

Multimedics, a Micron group company and also an indigenous manufacturer for world-class medical devices in India, has received the Conformite Europeene (CE) certification for M’Sure-S, its sirolimus drug-eluding stents (DESs).

Multimedics is now the first in the world to have CE approval for its sirolimus-eluting coronary stents from DNV.

Naresh Jain, chief executive officer, Micron Group of Companies, said, “In total only three CE approved drug eluting stents in India.”

Pushpak Ranka, managing director, Multimedics, confirmed that it was theyoungest (and only) company in India to have CE certificate from DNV and in the world for this class of product. They achieved the feat three years after their inception, and were the third company in India to receive a CE for a sirolimus DES.

The Company also conducted workshops in three cities: Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru on complex Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). These workshops were organised in collaboration with Dr Marc Silvestri of France.

“The workshop was an initiation of activities aimed at keeping abreast with the latest in international trends in cardiology,” said Dr Potdar of Hindu Sabha Hospital, Mumbai. This was the first workshop of its kind which was conducted at Hindu Sabha Hospital.

Dr Silvestri appreciated the performance of the M’Sure-S stents he used during the workshop and live case at CSI held in Bangalore.

“We were delighted to support such scientific activity in the interest of theIndian population. The CE mark for M’Sure-S drug-eluting stent is a significant accomplishment that substantiates our product's excellent clinical outcomes,” Jain said.

“This conforms our commitment to providing patients and clinicians new treatment options for coronary artery disease. The flexibility,highly-deliverable system and proven safety and efficacy of Sirolimus with bio-degradable polymers make our stents an excellent choice for a variety of patients,” he added.
