Mumbai to host IBC's 2nd Asia-Pacific meet on pharma/biotech

IBC Life Sciences is conducting its 2nd Asia-Pacific conference on pharmaceuticals and biotech industries during October 18-20, 2004 at Renaissance Hotel & Convention Centre, Mumbai.

Titled as 'Drug Discovery to Manufacturing: Global Partnering & New Science,' the 3-day event will feature two parallel conference tracks and three panel discussions. The conferences will dwell on Drug Discovery and Development and Manufacturing Drugs and Biologics. Whereas, Raising Capital in Asia; Intellectual Property Protection in Asia; Global Partnering Challenges and Opportunities will be debated out in the panel discussions.

More than 50 speakers from 13 countries representing various leading pharma/biotech companies in the Asia-Pacific region are expected to partake in the Partnering and Business Summit which is slated to focus on: What Eastern and Western Companies Need to Know plus Case Studies of East-West Alliances.

R&D professionals working in discovery research, toxicology, genomics, pharmacology, biomolecular screening, assay design, preclinical and clinical development, proteomics and IT/Informatics and business and manufacturing experts from strategic alliances/collaborations, outsourcing, financing/investing, biopartnering, licensing, legal affairs, patents/IP, corporate affairs, technology transfer, contract research/ manufacturing, operations, strategic planning, process engineering, cell culture, regulatory affairs etc will attend the meet.

Besides, the event will feature a company showcase of prospective partners/sources of drug discovery and development and drug and biologic manufacturing services and contract research.

Keynote presentations will be delivered by Charles Cooney, professor, MIT; Dr R A Mashelkar, director general, CSIR; Lars Walan, vice- president, AstraZeneca.
