Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital and ConvaTec, medical technology major, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish an advanced wound clinic and limb salvage centre at the Narayana Hrudayalaya Health City complex.

The Clinic will provide treatment for diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers and venous leg ulcers. There will be an advanced diagnostic facility and patient treatment rooms in wound management. The centre will be the first-of-its-kind in the country, bringing together the collective experiences of ConvaTec’s wound dressings for acute and chronic lesions and products for those with an ostomy following surgery for colorectal cancer or inflammatory bowel disease. In addition, the company provides a wide range of hospital products, including catheters and other products used to manage incontinence and support critical care.

With the increasing incidence of diabetes and vascular diseases, there are numerous patients who require specialised wound care management. In addition, there are cancer patients, who require immediate colostomy services, said Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, chairman of Narayana Hrudayalaya.

“Our partnership with Narayana Hrudayalaya for the Advanced Wound Clinic and Limb Salvage Centre demonstrates ConvaTec’s commitment to the Indian market and to make a difference in people’s lives,” said Ken Berger, CEO ConvaTec, which recently opened its India office in Bengaluru.

The medical technology indicates significant growth potential in India, which is one of the world's largest healthcare markets. In this regard, we are  looking to expand our operations here.

“We believe that we can set a new standard in the treatment of chronic and acute wounds in India by providing healthcare providers and patients access to high quality, affordable therapies. We are also committed to supporting physicians in their efforts to educate and treat their patients through our innovation, reliability and service excellence,” said Berger. “Narayana Hrudayalaya Bangalore, over the last four years, developed one of the most comprehensive vascular programmes in the country. The addition of this clinic will ensure that all comprehensive services will be available under one roof,” said Dr Ramesh Tripathi, the clinical director, Vascular & Endovascular Services.

“India is making rapid strides towards world-class healthcare, and ConvaTec is uniquely positioned to address these growing needs. Our partnership with Narayana Hrudayalaya will add a new dimension to wound management and provide exceptional treatment for acute and chronic wounds. DuoDERM, Kaltostat and Aquacel dressings are some of our innovative products that have set benchmarks globally.  These products, combined with our Wound Management Algorithm, provide a holistic wound management solution,”  said Anand Shirur, managing director, ConvaTec in India.
