Narayana Health, C-CAMP and Axilor Ventures now provide access to Rs. 75 lakh and advanced research facilities to the winners of Healiate 2016. The debut event is a Directed Innovation Challenge for individuals and start-ups to develop medical devices and pharma-biotech products. It received over 114 entries and 99 submissions.
Healiate is a virtual platform encouraging entrepreneurs, medical professionals, researchers, inventors, scientists and start-ups to come up with innovative solutions to solve healthcare problems. The first edition, Healiate 2016 focused on diabetes and the national competition had over 40 per cent of applications coming from tier 2 cities. The applications were diverse with innovative ideas related to all aspects of diabetes covering access, affordability, effectiveness and prevention, stated the organizers.
Further, Healiate which is a first-of-its kind network has also built a growing community of various healthcare experts consisting of doctors, entrepreneurs, researchers, scientists and investors, added the organisers.
Of the five winners, three were from Bengaluru: Dr Murganand for Glycated Albumin Test from Bengaluru and Dr Pradipta Ranjan, who developed a metallic nanoparticle based urinary albumin detector under affordability category. Vinayak Nandalike won for the neuropathy screening device, in the access category.
Dr Nitin Tiwari from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh was selected devising Diaballs an early diagnostic and eco-friendly sanitary balls which enables colour changes under the access category.
Representing Pune was Rashida Taskin, who was the winner in the prevention category for developing a real-time diagnostic-cum-therapeutic wearable shoe-insole.
