Narayana Hrudayalaya has signed a collaboration agreement with Devraj Urs Medical College to create R L Jalappa Narayana Hrudayalaya cardiac center. The R L Jalapa hospital, which is affiliated to Devraj Urs Medical College, has 1000 beds serving 21 Lakh populations living in and around Kolar district.
This is part of the cardiac major's efforts to launch heart care facilities in the medical college hospitals in various regions of country.
The objective is to create a 100-bed facility only for heart related illnesses with a modern cardiac catheterization laboratory, operating room, diagnostic lab and other preventive cardiology services. This reach out programme will ensure that patients of Kolar region will not have to come to Bangalore for heart operations or angioplasty, said Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, chairman of Narayana Hrudayalaya
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed by R L Jalappa, chairman, Devraj Urs Medical College to launch this programme.
According to Jalappa on an average about 100 -150 patients are visiting their hospital with cardiac ailments. There was an urgent need for a cardiac hospital in this area.
