Nathealth to host 2nd roundtable discussion on healthcare in Mumbai on June 23
The Healthcare Federation of India (Nathealth) is hosting its 2nd Western Regional Roundtable meeting in Mumbai on 23rd June, 2017. The 2nd Western Regional Roundtable discussion will be preceded by the Governing Council (GC) meeting of Nathealth.
The Roundtable will take up several issues related to healthcare sector in the country with special reference to Maharashtra. The GC members, experts and policymakers, participating in the discussion, will focus on opportunities and challenges in healthcare sector.
In view of rising dual disease burden in the country and states like Maharashtra, the participants would deliberate on universal health care and how to push public –private participation (PPP), digital health and prevention & wellness to achieve the set targets. Special focus would be on current opportunities and challenges in Maharashtra and how to improve the healthcare delivery mechanism in the state.
Apart from Nathealth’s president Dr. Arvind Lal & secretary general Anjan Bose, all members of the GC, representing various segments of the healthcare sector will be participating in the Roundtable. Dr. Deepak Sawant, minister of public health and family welfare, government of Maharashtra is also expected to participate. Dr. Sawant, credited with several initiatives in the state, would deliberate on current healthcare scenario in Maharashtra. The evening roundtable session is expected to witness participation of top national healthcare leaders as well as eminent healthcare personalities from Mumbai and other western states.
Dr Arvind Lal, president, Nathealth said “The Roundtable would also focus on the government’s recent announcement of National Health Policy (NHP). Nathealth leadership team would also deliberate on the implications of recent GST announcement on healthcare sector”.
“We at Nathealth feel that the recently announced National Health Policy would set a positive roadmap for the health of the nation. This should also send a positive signal to the investors for infusing much - needed funds into healthcare and accelerate innovation for improving access to affordable Healthcare,” Dr Lal added.
Giving details of this important meeting, Anjan Bose, secretary general, Nathealth says “The collaborative vision and unique competencies that exist on Nahtealth platform is expected to result in tangible outcomes in the form a concerted national endeavor to help creating a healthcare ecosystem capable of effectively addressing critical healthcare issues- both national and in Maharashtra”.
The evening meeting will also witness Q&A session moderated by Anjan Bose and a senior official from Nathealth’s knowledge partner Bain & Company.
The Roundtable will also discuss opportunities for home care sector, medical technologies, diagnostics, medical tourism, funding & financing in the sector as these areas have been in focus of Nathealth and in collaboration with various stake-holders Nathealth is suggesting improvements to scale up these opportunities in healthcare in India.
