Neuro Products India, which is the official distributor for the US-based Neuro Resource Group (NRG) has now made available the new InterX 1000 pain management device. The product which is a part of the home health technologies can be used by patients or carried by physiotherapists for home visits. It is also an ideal kit for sportsmen to manage pain.

NRG specializes in the design, development and manufacture of high end innovative medical products for injury management, rehabilitation and pain management. InterX products carry the European CE mark and are 510(k) cleared by the US FDA as a pain management device.

The InterX 1000 therapy has proven efficacious in clinical trials. Its targeted application of interactive neuro-stimulation helps manage and relieve the symptoms of pain and injury. It is simple to use and allows safe treatment with just a push of a button. After post operative care, orthopaedic patients need not visit the hospital but can call for physiotherapists home to administer InterX 1000. Non-invasive interactive neuro-stimulation methodologies for treating post-operative pain and facilitating recovery after injury have been effective, stated Sridharan Santhanam, manager sales - South Asia, Neuro Products India.

The product is of much importance to Indian market where scores of orthopaedic procedures are carried out. Our marketing strategy will target all small, medium and large hospitals in the country, he added.

A multidisciplinary approach has been adopted to examine the effect of transdermal interactive neuro stimulation with the InterX device on lymphocyte metabolic function, gene expression and cytokine production. According to the Department of Neurology University of Cincinnati, which has submitted the scientific research to examine the physiological effects of InterX therapy in humans, there is better stimuli and enhanced healing ability post injury.

Unlike some pain management products, the InterX1000 does not just block the pain but the patient experiences prolonged effect beyond the initial treatment. The interactive waveform constantly changes in response to the feedback from the tissues. It also scans the skin to identify the optimal treatment points. The focused high density stimulation is delivered to the specific nerve endings, added Santhanam.

According to an independent study, the market for home health monitoring is predicted to grow from $3 billion in 2009 to an estimated $7.7 billion by 2012.
