Pune-based Nichrome India has ventured into a technical collaboration with TOTPACK from Spain. Under this agreement, Nichrome India will cater to the requirements of packaging industry by offering special machinery that could extend re-closability and pourability for packaged products. In this regards the company will use the most advanced Spanish technology to manufacture and sell Horizontal Form Fill Seal Machines domestically and internationally at an Indian price.

Under this technology licensing arrangement, TOTPACK will support Nichrome with its experience and specialty of HFFS technology transfer and upgradation. The machinery typically known as Horizontal Form Fill Seal Machines is highly automated and offers a variety of pouch formats like Stand up pack (Doypack), Zipper pack, Spout (cap) pack. This increases efficiency and ease of operation.

The machines will be manufactured in simplex and duplex constructions for products like, cosmetics, pharmaceutical powders, juice concentrates, soup mixes, dry fruits, liquid chemicals and gels, capsules and tablets, swabs and tissues etc. With this technology, the company will be able to offer machines for Doypack style stand up pouches with spout, zipper and straw attachments.

These machines will be indigenously manufactured at Nichrome’s state -of -the art plant located at Shirval (Pune) and will be supplied to both domestic as well as international markets. The infrastructure at this plant currently accommodates a manufacturing capacity of 500 machines per year. The technology transfer is underway and the first machine will be launched at one of the biggest packaging expositions in Germany this year.
