Nightingales Home Health Services and DaVita have joined hands  to launch pre and post dialysis continuum of care and the first of its kind home hemodialysis for patients of End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) with the entire setup of dialysis being installed at the patient’s home.

Nightingales Home Health Services is an enterprise of Medwell Ventures and the pioneer of specialty home healthcare in India recently and DaVita is a global major in kidney care and the largest chain of standalone dialysis and kidney care centres in India.

DaVita is a leading provider of dialysis services in the United States through 2,197 outpatient dialysis centres and also operates 93 outpatient dialysis centres across 10 countries.

Under this partnership, Nightingales would provide a specialized Nephro care plan which will include screening of patients for kidney related medical issue, initial clinical assessment, nursing care for pre and post dialysis continuum of care, dietary consultation, diagnostics and physical therapy. In addition for the Home Hemodialysis programme DaVita would be responsible for the infrastructure setup including Dialysis Machine, Reverse Osmosis Ultrafiltration Water Plant, Consumables, etc. Through its advanced technological infrastructure, the DaVita Command Centre will be able to monitor the patient on real time basis, check for alarms, etc. and the staff will be able to converse with the patient via video conference facility. Nephrologists associated with DaVita will also be available for home consultation for chronic patients with end stage renal disease.

Chronic kidney disease is emerging amongst the most prevalent chronic diseases globally and rapidly increasing particularly in patients suffering from diabetes and hypertension. In India too diabetes and hypertension account for 40-60% of cases with chronic kidney disease and currently 229/million people in the country have incidence of end stage kidney disease and need renal replacement therapy. Every year India adds more than 3 lakh new people who require some form or Renal Replacement Therapy. Bangalore alone has close to 4,000 patients on Hemodialysis however less than 100 patients in India are currently on Home Hemodialysis (HHD).
