NIMHANS professor of psychiatry dept bags three awards on schizophrenia research
Dr Ganesan Venkatasubramanian, assistant professor, department of psychiatry of National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), has bagged three awards. The awards come in as a recognition of his works in the area of schizophrenia.
The first achievement saw Dr Venkatasubramanian win the Innovative Young Biotechnologist award instituted by the Department of Biotechnology. The honour was based on the research proposal on Imaging Genomics study. In a presentation, the assistant professor made efforts to integrate the brain abnormalities with genetic variations in schizophrenia conditions. The theme of the presentation was 'Neuro Immuno Metabolic Hypothesis.' The panel also short-listed the winner based on his academic excellence.
Dr Venkatasubramanian received the award recently which carried a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh.
The second award for Dr Venkatasubramanian is the National Academy of Sciences India (NASI) Platinum Jubilee Young Scientist Award under the bio medical sciences category. The Awards will be given by the President, NASI during the 78th Annual Session which will be held from November 21 to 23, 2008 at Chandigarh, Punjab University. The award will carry a medallion and a cash prize.
The third award is the listing of Dr Venkatasubramanian in the 'Marquis Who is Who' which is the world's pre-eminent publisher of biographical information since 1899, in print and now an online database of over 1.4 million outstanding achievers worldwide in a wide variety of professions. He will be listed in the September 2009 for research and academic excellence.
