NIPER plans 4-day drug discovery workshop from Feb 28

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is hosting a four-day workshop on "Drug discovery and development in new millennium: Interfacing with in silico, cell based and pharmacological experimentations" from February 28, 2005.

The workshop, being organised by the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of NIPER, will provide drug discovery scientists, researchers, managers, students and regulatory authorities an insight in to the ways of in-depth understanding of the different aspects of drug discovery and development.

The workshop will have interactive sessions, lectures and demonstrations in the well-equipped laboratories of the institute, stated a press release.

The workshop will be inaugurated by Dr. Anil Gulati, president Chicago Labs, USA. Over 100 participants from industry and academia will take part in the deliberations. Over two dozen eminent scientists from pharmaceutical industry and academia have confirmed to deliver the lectures/ demonstrations, the statement said.

Some of the prominent speakers from industry are Dr. Anil Gulati of Chicago Labs, USA; Dr. Sreedhara Swamy of Nicholas Piramal; Dr. Vinay Bansal of Ranbaxy; Dr. R. Narayanan of TCS and Dr. Anish Desai of Glenmark. The speakers from academia include Dr. Y.K. Gupta, ITRC, Lucknow; Dr. V.S.V. Rao, Bombay College of Pharmacy, Mumbai; Dr. S.D. Seth, ICMR etc.
