National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is organising a two day workshop on medicine information from December15, 2004. The workshop is to bring together persons working in the medicine information centres across the country.

According to Dr Pramil Tiwari, workshop coordinator, the persons who are planning to take up medicine information as a career and have hands-on experience in drug information can also attend the programme. "The workshop is an opportunity for the participants to work on real scenarios in medicine information and master the technique of providing medicine information efficiently. The workshop will be conducted by NIPER personnel trained in UK", he informed. The issues to be addressed in the workshop include sources of medicine information, SOP for handling enquiry and legalities in provision of information. Separate workshops on drugs in pregnancy and lactation, drugs in renal diseases, drug interactions, compatibility of parental drugs, adverse drug reactions, and route (s) of administration would be conducted during these two days.

Dr Tiwari wanted medicine information pharmacists, pharmaceutical educators and PG students intending to pursue a career in medicine information to attend the programme.

The workshop will be conducted at the NIPER campus at SAS Nagar, Chandigarh.
