Nipro Corp. sets up India's first artificial kidney (dialyzer) & dialysis product manufacturing facility near Pune
Japan based Nipro Corporation has set up India's first artificial kidney (dialyzer) and dialysis product manufacturing facility at Shirwal, near Pune. The new manufacturing facility at Nipro India was inaugurated by Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad.
The state-of-the-art facility has been set up at an investment of Rs.700 crore and is spread across 50 acres. The project has been accorded ‘Mega Project Status’ by the state government.
NIPRO Corporation has presence of manufacturing facilities in Japan, Thailand, China, Brazil, USA, Indonesia, Bangladesh and now in India. The facility in India has got Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) accorded approval to introduce India’s first in-house Gamma Sterilisation Technology for medical devices.
Yoshihiko Sano, president, NIPRO said, “The growing importance of Indian Healthcare market gives this country a central position in Nipro Corp's global strategy. We entered the Indian market in 1995 and started our trading activity in the country. In 2010 we decided to set up a manufacturing facility here and have built a state-of-the-art facility in a record of 18 months.”
The factory will manufacture the highest quality of artificial kidney (dialyzers), disposable syringes and needles, cannulas, IVC (Intravenous Catheters), AVF (Arterial Venous Fistulas) and BTS (Blood Tubing Sets) at affordable prices for the Indian market.
Milind Pappu, managing director, NIPRO India Corporation, said, “Pune is an ideal location for our new facility because of easy access to the Mumbai airport and proximity to the pharmaceutical industry. NIPRO expects to achieve Rs 350 crore turnover in 2013. The Pune factory currently provides employment opportunity to 800 people and expects to double it by end of 2013. NIPRO India’s facility for manufacturing artificial kidneys from synthetic fibers is the country’s most ambitious project in the Medical Device Industry.”
“The products manufactured in the Pune facility will comply with global quality standard for medical devices and the company intends to export some of the products to other markets,” said Pappu.
