The New Delhi based Greentech Foundation, engaged in promotion of education, training and research on environment management and safety, has invited nominations from Indian chemical and pharmaceutical companies to be considered for the "Greentech Environment Excellence Awards" announced every year by the foundation. The award announcement this year is to be made on January 31, 2003 during Greentech 2002 Conference on Environment Management.
The award announcement ceremony would commence on the last day of the two-day conference, based on the theme "Industrial growth and environment." The topics for the conference are related with industrial pollution and the strategies for better production. Waste management and resource conservation and clean technologies are to be part of the discussion.
Informing this, Kamaleshwar Sharan, president, Greentech Foundation said that a large number of corporate level delegates from private and public sector companies are expected to attend the function. ONGC LTD, IOCL LTD, NHPC LTD., NTPC LTD., NRDC, SAIL, National Productivity Council, Indian Paper Manufacturers Association, All India Biotech Association, IFCI LIMITED, and Indian Cement Manufacturers Association are known to have extended support to the event.
The Awards, to be given for the third consecutive year now, has been categorized according to the nature of the industry. Last year, the foundation had announced awards for three companies in the chemical sector category. The companies were Atul Limited, Henkel Spic India Ltd and the heavy water treatment plant of the Department of Atomic Energy. The awards were also given to companies in the engineering, fertilizer, corporate, hospitality industry, mines and petroleum sectors.
