The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has revised the prices of 94 formulation packs as per a notification issued by the NPPA dated June 5. NPPA cut prices of 85 packs while the prices of 9 formulations were increased marginally.

The prices of as many as 12 formulations by the Eli-Lilly and Company were revised while two each from Win-Medicare and Novartis were revised, in the non-ceiling packs.

The prices were brought down by over 80 per cent in case bulk drug, Captopril, while the range of increase in prices of formulations was up to 21 per cent. Price of Captopril tablet 10's (Captopril - 50mg) strip went down by 81.60 per cent from Rs 15.22 to Rs 2.80. Price of Captopril tablet of 10's (25 mg) strip came down to Rs 1.42 from Rs 4.40.

Price of Pheniramine Maleate Injection 2ml ampoule went up by 21 per cent from Rs 2.54 to Rs 3.8, registering the highest hike among the list. The price of Ibuprofen + Paracetamol Suspension 60ml glass bottle was increased by 19.31 per cent from Rs 11.08 to Rs 13.22.

The imported packs, brought under fixed prices, included monocomponent Insulin 10ml, Daivobet Ointment 15gm, fixed dose combination of Calcipotriol + Betamethasone ointment and Vitalux Plus TR Tab 30's. In new cases, the list included Recosulin-R 100 IU/ML.

In the ceiling packs, the prices of Cefotaxime+Sulbactam Soidum Injection Twin pack, Doxycycline Hyclate Tablets/Softlet 8's and Salbutamol Sulphate (CFC) free Inhaler 200MT were revised.

In revision cases, Ibuprofen + Paracetamol Suspension 100ml, Ibuprofen + Paracetamol Suspension 60ml Glass, Pheniramine Maleate Injections 2ml, Vitamin A Capsule 30's 16.92 17.80 5.20 CP, Vitamin A Injection 2.5ml and Cefixime +Cloxacillin Sodium are among the list.

NPPA as per a notification dated June 1 had also revised prices of formulations containing betamethasone, furazolodine, amodiaquine, Benzathine penicillin G and pentazocine.
