National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has revised the price of bulk drugs Prednisolone from Rs. 59000 per kg. to Rs. 58520 per kg. and Prednisolone Acetate from Rs. 62000 per kg. to Rs. 38560 per kg. as per the notification in the Gazette of India Extraordinary No. S.O. 384 (E) dated April 2, 2003. The notified price would be the maximum sale price exclusive of excise duty and local taxes.

These prices have been revised under the provisions of DPCO, 1995 after conducting the detailed cost price study. Wyeth Lederle Ltd. is the only known manufacturer, producing the drug from basic stage in the country.

The revised notified prices shall become effective within 15 days from the date of notification in the Official Gazette.
