The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has revised price of five bulk drugs through a notification dated September 25, 2007, with an increase in price of sterile and oral forms of cloxacilline sodium.
The price of Naproxen has been reduced from Rs 1864 per kg to Rs 1313 while Naproxen sodium price has cut down to Rs 1452 per kg from Rs 1916 per kg fixed in June 2005. The price of cephazoline sodium (sterile) has been brought down to Rs 5977 per kg, from the former price of Rs 7966 per kg which was fixed in March 2006.
Meanwhile, the price of cloxacilline sodium (oral) has been revised from Rs 1153 per kg to Rs 1359 per kg and the sterile form has been brought up from Rs 1651 per kg to Rs 1904 per kg, with the new notification. The price of these bulk drugs were earlier revised through a notification in March 2006.
NPPA, further ordered that the revised price should be made effective within 15 days from the date of order as required under sub paragraph (1) of paragraph 14 of Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1995. The necessary price-list should also be issued as required under sub-paragraph (3) of paragraph 14 of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1995.
