Our Bureau, New Delhi | Wednesday, July 30, 2003, 08:00 Hrs  [IST]

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has revised/fixed the prices of 32 formulation packs. The formulations for which prices have been revised are Vitamin C based formulations, Chloroquine Phosphate based formulations used in the treatment of Malaria, Nalidixic Acid & Metronidazole based formulation used in treatment of Amoebiasis and Insulin based formulations used as Anti-diabetic medicines.

While prices have been fixed for the first time for 5 formulation packs, there has been a downward price revision ranging from 1.02% to 7.54% for 26 packs. The revision in prices was warranted due to downward revision in prices of scheduled bulk drugs. In the case of 1 pack the price has been revised upward by 20.05% due to upward revision in the price of Scheduled Bulk drug.

Of the 32 formulation packs, ceiling prices (exclusive of excise duty and local taxes etc.) have been fixed in respect of 11 packs. The non-ceiling prices (inclusive of excise duty but exclusive of local taxes etc.) have been fixed in respect of 21 packs. The prices have been fixed/revised in accordance with the provisions of the Drugs Price Control Order (DPCO), 1995 and as per the established criteria and guidelines.
