National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has revised the price of bulk drug Vitamin A and its derivatives.

As per the recent notification of NPPA, the prices for Vitamin A Palmetate 1.7/1.0 million international units (MIU)/gm will be subjected to a corresponding revision from Rs. 3178/1000 MIU to Rs. 2452/1000 MIU. Vitamin A Acetate 1.0 MIU/gm will be priced at Rs.2561/1000 MIU instead of Rs.3136/1000 MIU. In the case of Vitamin A Acetate 0.5 MIU/gm the price reduction fixed by the authority would be from Rs.4146/1000 MIU to Rs.3421/1000 MIU. Nicholas Piramal India Ltd. is the only known manufacturer of the drug in the country.

According to the notification issued on November 17, 2003, the prices have to be effective within 15 days of notification.
