Opto Circuits India Ltd. (OCIL), India's leading manufacturer of non-invasive healthcare apparatus, has been accorded 2-Star Trading House Status by the ministry of commerce and industry in accordance with the provisions of the Government of India's Exim Policy.
Vinod Ramnani, Chairman & Managing Director, said, “We have been exporting our products and have been increasing our export performance year-on-year. With the new products that we are launching now, we hope to go higher up in the Export House category. Our ultimate aim is to be accorded the Super Star Export House status."
Exports contribute 95% of revenues for OCIL, of which 70% comes from international OEMs. The strategy is to directly target markets in US and Europe where MediAid has already made inroads to garner higher share of export revenues.
"Although we have started to concentrate a lot on the domestic front, now that the markets here also seem lucrative, it doesn't mean that we will lose focus on the export front. We will sharpen MediAid's focus on exports, which will contribute 50% by FY08. This will be possible as we are making rapid inroads in the US and European markets. We are also looking at expanding in other global markets like South East Asia and Africa," said Ramnani.
R&D is a huge focus area for OCIL and recently a few new innovations like Thermal Printer, Multi Parameter Monitor and Waveform-enabled Pulse Oximeters were unveiled. In June 2005, OCIL bagged the first order for its flagship SPO2 sensors from a company based out of the US. This was the first order received by OCIL after securing USFDA approval for its SPO2 sensors recently. The first order for SPO2 sensors from the US was worth Rs 13 crore.
