MediAid Inc., subsidiary of Opto Circuits India Ltd. (OCIL), leading manufacturer of non-invasive healthcare apparatus, has received a new Distribution and Pricing Agreement (DAPA) from the Defence Personnel Support Centre (DPSC) based in Philadelphia. The authorisation covers OCIL's products like the FDA-approved SPO2 Sensors and Patient Monitoring Devices.

DAPAs are issued to manufacturers of medical items by DPSC-DMM, and these suppliers therefore become DAPA holders. The DAPA holders allow awarded products to be distributed at specific prices through the Medical Prime Vendor Programme (MPVP). It is through the MPVP that the majority of medical items are purchased by the Department of Defence Healthcare Facilities, according to an OCIL release. Exports contribute 95% of revenues for OCIL, of which 70% comes from international OEMs.

OCIL had been accorded the 2-Star Trading House Status by the ministry of commerce and industry, in accordance with the provisions of the Government of India's Exim Policy. In June 2005, OCIL bagged the first order for its flagship SPO2 sensors from a company based out of the US. This was the first order received by OCIL after securing US FDA approval for its SPO2 sensors recently. The first order for SPO2 sensors from the US was worth Rs 13 crore, added the release.
