P D Hinduja Hospital receives ‘special jury recognition’ at FICCI Healthcare Excellence Awards 2013

P D Hinduja Hospital has been conferred with ‘Special Jury Recognition’ for Operational Excellence in Private Multi-Specialty Hospital category at FICCI Healthcare Excellence Awards 2013 which felicitates organisations and individuals for their contributions in the healthcare industry. This award recognises hospital’s Short Stay Service (SSS - Day Care) & Care@Home Service.

Joy Chakraborty, senior director Operations & Deepak Samant, director, Finance, received the prestigious award on behalf of Hinduja Hospital. The award was given by, Dr A Didar Singh, secretary general, FICCI, Damodharan, former chairman, SEBI, Ramesh Sippy, film producer.

On receiving the award Joy Chakraborty said, "Indian Healthcare sector needs several innovative model and format in healthcare delivery to bridge demand and supply gap keeping patients and other stakeholder’s interest in mind. Our Short Stay Services (SSS) and Care @ Home one of those innovative formats for tomorrow. This recognition will inspire us to innovate many such initiatives in future."

Speaking on the occasion, Pramod Lele, CEO of Hinduja Hospital, said, “I am happy that the jury recognized our SSS and Care@Homeinitatives. Better utilization of existing beds can help the industry & patients both. Insurance sector should also support such initiatives wholeheartedly to make them viable.”

These are unique concepts that the hospital developed with a view to improve the patient experience (both inside and outside the hospital) and reduce the stay in the hospital along with associated costs. SSS is a hospital within a hospital, designed scientifically to ensure seamless patient movement in and out for treatment that needs less than 24hrs of hospital stay. The hospital was recognized for successful innovation of 'Care@Home’ that complements SSS with various services at patient’s doorstep.

Out of more than 120 applications received around 39 were shortlisted for which site visit was conducted. Subsequently only seven hospitals were called to present the case in the presence of Jury Members that was headed by Damodaran, former chairman of SEBI, UTI, and IDBI (chairman of the Judge’s panel). The applications went through a rigorous process of screening for short listing by an expert panel of jury.

This was followed by field visits to Hinduja Hospital by an independent agency nominated by FICCI to validate the authenticity of the information provided in the application form. Global consulting firm Ernst & Young Pvt Ltd assisted FICCI in acting as the official tabulators for these awards and was also supported by quality council.

The FICCI – HEAL, 2013, awards were open to all ‘For Profit’ and ‘Non Profit’ private, government, charitable hospitals, medical technology &equipment companies and diagnostic centers and their sub units, including Indian subunits of foreign organizations located in India, as well as Indian Healthcare organizations located overseas.
