The Kochi based Payattuthara Pharmacy, one among the known traditional Ayurvedic treatment houses in Kerala, has entered into manufacturing of Ayurvedic drugs and nutraceuticals and launched eight products with the brand name 'Herbi'.

The products launched recently include an Ayurvedic expectorant Herbi Cough Formula 10, baby massage oil, Shirobandhu migrane and headache oil, a hair tone, burn cure oil, a muscle toner oil, anti-dandruff oil etc. Payattuthara Pharmacy has already launched a popular Ayurvedic pediatric cough syrup Tulsi in the market.

Its main brand, the Herbi Ayurvedic tooth powder, has been well accepted in the market, and hence decided to launch the products under Herbi brand, Thomas Payattuthara, chief physician of Payattuthara Pharmacy told Pharmabiz.

He said the pharmacy was in the process of patenting the products, and marketing was currently confined only to the district of Ernakulam. The firm was in the process of establishing a marketing networking and was on the look out for suitable marketing partners.

So far Payattuthara Pharmacy, a renowned traditional Ayurvedic treatment house in the region for many decades, was confined only to manufacturing prescription Ayurvedic drugs exclusively for the requirement of the patients at its treatment center. Market potential for herbal drugs, besides the knowledge and infrastructure of the firm to make unique and quality medicines were the reasons for launching products in the market under a brand name, claimed Thomas Payattuthara.
