Pharma AWACS plans pan India launch of its first market surveillance product in August

The Pharma Softech Advance Working Action and Correction System (AWACS), a joint venture of All Indian Origin Chemists and Distributors Ltd (AIOCD Ltd) and the Chennai based Medi-Infotec to offer market surveillance service for Indian pharma industry, is planning to complete pan India launch of its electronic stock and sales data report by August 2008.

The company, which has already launched the product in six states in the northern and western parts of the country, is in an effort to add one state in its geographical coverage in every week and is expected to complete pan India launch in August 2008. The product will offer pharma market and sales information, collected through stockists under All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) from various parts of the country, in all India level soon, according to the company officials. The company will sell the data to the pharmaceutical companies for market surveillance.

The Pharma Softech AWACS is also planning to launch a Prescription Data Audit report and PIN Code wise Audit report products in the market within six months. With these products the company will offer audit reports based on prescriptions of doctors all over the country and the pharma market response on PIN code basis.

"Our products have an advantage of higher accuracy, as the data is collected from the stockists and retail pharmacies throughout the country. The company will then prepare the statistics with the support of software technology and will provide the reports to pharma companies thrice a month, which is not met by any market surveillance firm in the country at present," said a top management official with Pharma Softech AWACS.

The sales data report, the first product from the company launched recently, is also abide with certain parameters like information on closing stocks and the data on the primary dumping stocks made by the manufacturing company. The data will help the companies to compare the primary dumping quantity of a product and its secondary supply level to know the exact market trend on the product, he added.

"The company has already secured orders from more than 10 companies for its first product and we expect to add another 10 to 12 companies including some of the pharmaceutical majors in our client list by next month," said J S Shinde, chairman, Pharma Softech AWACS and the Hon general secretary of AIOCD.

As per the agreement made by the two companies in the beginning of 2007, the AIOCD Ltd is providing a panel of expertise and necessary infrastructure to collect sales data from the retail pharmacies, while Medi-Infotec is executing the operational elements including Information Technology for developing the product.
