Pharmacy profession veteran S Laskar passes away

S Laskar, veteran leader of pharmacy profession and immediate past president of IPA Bihar State Branch, passed away. He breathed his last on January 7. He was 96 years old.

S Laskar was born on 19th January 1916 in Faridpur village of East Bengal (now Bangaladesh). After securing his M.Sc. (Chemistry) in 1941, he joined R & D section of Bengal Immunity, Kolkata in 1943. In 1950, he joined as research scholar of Albert David Ltd. Laskar joined Dolphin Laboratories Ltd as chief chemist in 1960 and developed a number of formulations. In 1964, Life Pharmaceuticals Pvt., Ltd. was started at Calcutta under his guidance. Due to him Life Pharmaceuticals Pvt., Ltd was then recognised as 'House of HEAMOSTATE' in medical profession.

Laskar Started a Branch of Life Pharmaceuticals Pvt., Ltd at Patna. He joined Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) Bihar in 1971 and organised the 27th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) in 1975.

As a recognition of his contribution in Pharmaceutical Industry and Profession, IPA conferred upon him "IPA Fellowship Award".
