The Pharmaceutical Exports Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) has instituted 'Pharmexcil Export Awards' for the outstanding export performance from the year 2005-06. Trophies and merit certificates will be given in each of the category. The Council has called for nominations for the year 2005-06.
Trophies and merit certificates will be awarded in both SSI and non-SSI category for drugs and pharmaceuticals in the general category. In the product category, the awards will be given separately for best export performers in the segments of formulations, bulk drugs & intermediates, herbal related products (including medicinal plants, ayurvedic homeopathic, unani, siddha medicines etc), biotech products, pharmaceutical services (including R&D, clinical trials, contract manufacturing etc), healthcare products (including surgicals, diagnostics etc), veterinary products and merchant exports.
Last date for filing the application has been fixed as on or before 31.08.2006. An Expert Committee, appointed by the Committee of Administration will scrutinize the applications and will refer their recommendations to Pharmexcil. Winners will be presented the awards in the next Annual General Meeting of the Council, which is likely to be held in October 2006, informed the Council sources.
Pharmaxcil said application for awards should be made in only one category. At least 5 applications should have received from each of the categories to consider giving awards. The exporter should have obtained 40% growth in exports during the year over the preceding year of Award. Compound growth in exports over a period of three years should not be less than 30% and the exporter should have a minimum of Rs.1 crore exports to his credit during all three preceding years. In case the percentage growth conditions are not satisfied, the minimum absolute growth in exports should not be less than Rs.5 crore for SSI units and Rs.10 crore for non-SSI units.
Minimum exports during the year should be Rs One crore for SSI units and Rs.4 crore for Non-SSI units. Weightage will be given in cases like developing a new product or exporting to new markets known to be difficult for accessibility to Indian goods, significant success in developing or acquiring internationally accepted standards of quality certificates, significant success in establishment and promotion of Indian brands overseas and any other item of significance, which the Expert Committee deems fit to include in the weightage.
