Pharmexcil plans delegation to Uzbekistan in September

The Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) is planning to lead a delegation to Tashkent (Uzbekistan) following the sanction of additional MDA grant by the Government of India to participate in the third Indian Trade Exhibition during September 8-10, 2006 at Tashkent.

India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) is organising the third Indian Trade Exhibition at Tashkent. The Government of India has decided to sanction additional MDA grant to participants for this event under the focus of CIS programme. Jairam Ramesh, minister of state (commerce), would be inaugurating the event.

Pharmexcil has also proposed a delegation to Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Ukraine in October 2006 focusing on CIS region for this calendar year under MDA approved scheme of the Government.

As per trade statistics, pharmaceuticals have been the largest single item of Indian exports to Uzbekistan. Bulk drugs imports are increasing from Uzbekistan markets. As per estimates, Indian pharmaceutical exports to Uzbekistan are over Rs 20 crore and are set to grow in the coming years.
