The Pharmaceuticals Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) is taking a business delegation to Tunisia for a week starting from April 4, 2005. The delegation would be lead by Pratyush Sinha, secretary, Department of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Government of India.

Talking to Pharmabiz, Dr PV Appaji, executive director, Pharmexcil, informed that the delegates will explore the possibility of joint ventures and technology collaborations in the pharmaceuticals and biotechnology sectors in addition to opportunities in formulations and raw material supply.

"Though the export market in Tunisia is small at present, the country has scope to emerge as an attractive market in the coming years. Tunisia has recognized the strengths of Indian pharma industry and is keen to procure quality drugs at competitive prices," Dr Appaji added.

Tunisia market is opening and India's large and medium scale pharma companies can also make use of the emerging opportunities in the country, through the delegation. The delegation also intends to make a visit to Tunisia's neighbouring country, Algeria.
