Philips India has introduced a specially designed ‘hospital on wheels’, which showcases facilities from an ambulance to ICU.
This is part of an intensive awareness campaign called IntelliSafari, through which Philips will reach out to smaller hospitals, nursing homes and clinics in Tier 2 and 3 cities in India covering 300 clinicians over the next one month and familiarise them with the latest technological advancements in healthcare, available at a low cost.
The special vehicle is equipped with affordable yet highly advanced healthcare technologies, will travel across key cities in Kerala over the next two weeks, before moving on to Karnataka and other parts of India, covering a total of 80 locations in four weeks.
The van was flagged off from Kochi by Edmond Paul, DM Healthcare along with Srikanth Muthya, director, Patient Care and Clinical Informatics, Philips Healthcare India.
The vehicle is an experiential area fitted with healthcare equipment that offers state-of-the-art technologies at affordable prices. “Through the IntelliSafari drive, we want to assure our clinical partners and people that advanced technology does not always mean expensive technology. Healthcare products which are affordable with high-technology features are key to increasing access to healthcare in India and save lives. We are committed to making that happen by continuously working on new technology solutions,” said Muthya.
IntelliSafari is a programme that will give healthcare providers in non-metros the opportunity to experience how they can use Philips’ advanced, yet affordable, technologies to bring great quality healthcare closer to the masses. With the help of expert demonstrators from Philips, clinicians will be able to validate the usability of these technologies in a ‘real’ day-to-day hospital environment. IntelliSafari was launched by Philips India in July 2012 and reached several Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in North India in the initial phase.
“As healthcare providers, it is our responsibility to provide early and accurate diagnosis along with the best possible treatment. However, a big challenge has been the availability of latest technology at a price that can make it viable for smaller hospitals to opt for them. With Philips helping them get past this fundamental hurdle, they can now focus all their energies on providing the best possible healthcare services to their patients,” said Paul.
The IntelliSafari vehicle is equipped with large product portfolio from Philips Healthcare, that is designed for patients ranging from adults to neonates in ICU, CCU, OR environments as well as general wards and nursing care units. Hospitals and clinics challenged by their environment, financial circumstances, or patient demographics can select, with confidence, healthcare solutions that meet Philips standards, stated the company.
