Pochiraju Industries set to enter collaboration with Korean firm

Tamil Nadu-based Pochiraju Industries Ltd (PIL), a BSE listed company, is all set to enter into an alliance with a Korean firm to outsource biopharma products, it is learnt. It will also expand its presence into five more states in another two months.

According to sources close to the development, the company is in the process of discussion with the Korean firm and is expected to reach an agreement with the Korean in next few months. As per the planned collaboration, the Korean company will manufacture products such as Erythropoietin, Human Growth Hormone and G-CSF and Pochiraju Industries will market these products in India. The company is planning to launch these products in states such as Andhra Pradesh Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Kerala, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh. However, the company has refused to reveal more on the same.

It is also learnt that the company is planning to expand its current basket of products into states such as Kerala, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chattisgarh. As per the plan, the company will launch nearly 100 generics, which are already launched in states such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and West Bengal, in these states in another two months. As per sources, the company, which intends to explore overseas markets, is also planning third party manufacturing arrangement for formulations of five latest oncology molecules in Biopil division.

Pochiraju Industries, with a manufacturing facility in the Shapoorji Pallonji Biotech Park, is already partnered with Italy-based International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) and BiofinLaboratories, the technology providers for the biopharma products, for technical collaboration. As per the collaboration, ICGEB is providing the technical know of the products on an exclusive basis for India for a period of three years.
