President dedicates Curie Centre’s stereo-tactic radio surgery to the nation
Curie Centre of Oncology, located in the campus of St Johns Medical College Hospital has installed the Primus 6MV Linear Accelerator and a 3-dimensional treatment planning system and Intensity Modulation Radiotherapy Technique (IMRT) with virtual stimulation capabilities along with a micro-multi leaf collimator.
Dedicating the stereo-tactic radio surgery to the nation, the President of India APJ Abdul Kalam suggested periodic medical check-up for the above-30 age group. The President pointed out that stereo-tactic radio surgery units could serve better if integrated with other related units in fighting cancer. A book titled ‘Not Out: Winning the game of cancer’ authored by Dr Brinda Sitaram was released on the occasion.
