Roche, the world's largest biotech company, has launched pre-analytical device cobas p 480 to uncover and summarize primary sample vials used in cytology-based in liquids (LBC) and molecular assays using the system cobas 4800. To test trials as the cobas HPV and cobas CT/NG 4800, the device cobas p 480 provides outstanding value and workflow advantages of sample integrity.

The facing the need to automate sample preparation, cobas p 480 helps eliminate manual steps that can lead to repetitive injuries to the movement, a prominent area of concern for laboratory workers who manage a large number of samples per day.

The findings of an independent consulting firm showed that p480 when the device is part of the work flow process, the overall handling time for the deployment of test results of more than 700 samples per day is reduced by up to 50 per cent. Steps before processing - include removing the top of the vial, vortex and quality checking barcode - are automated, thereby reducing the risk of mixing the samples, cross-contamination or user error, further ensuring the reliability of the test results. The device allows the primary vials are loaded directly into the system cobas  4800 without equivalence in the second vial. The new caps can be placed automatically on the primary road for storage and processing.

system cobas 4800 offers true output automation for nucleic acid purification, listing PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and extension PCR and real-time detection to help laboratories to achieve maximum efficiency. The system works with the test cobas HPV test cobas CT/ NG (chlamydia/gonorrhea), the mutation test cobas BRAF V600 Mutation Test and the cobas EGFR, in addition to the expanded menu of molecular diagnostic test.
