Saamya Biotech to set up biopharmaceuticals mfg facility in SP Biotech Park

Saamya Biotech (India) Ltd, a new generation Biotechnology company incorporated in Hyderabad to manufacture and market biopharmaceuticals and recombinant protein products, is setting up an export oriented plant at Shapoorji Pallonji Biotech Park, Turkapally, 35 km away from Hyderabad.

The cost of the project is estimated at Rs 28.08 crore. The project is financed by equity share capital of Rs 23.08 crore, which includes Core-Promoters' contribution to the extent of Rs 8.08 crore and Rs 15 crore from financial institutions, Venture Capital firms and Public Issue, and term loan of Rs 5 crore.

The company proposes to set up facilities for an aggregate installed capacity of 9.2 tpa bulk active pharmaceutical ingredients of high value biopharmaceuticals. The company has already acquired a site at SP Biotech Park.

The company has plans to acquire one module in ICICI Knowledge Park, Genome valley, Hyderabad for R&D and Pilot Plant studies. It has obtained 100 per cent EOU status for the project from Government of India and No Objection Certificate (NOC) from AP Pollution Control Board for establishing the facility at SP Biotech Park and all other required statutory permissions from AP Govt. A marketing tie-up with Dr Reddy Laboratories / Aurobindo Pharma for commercializing the Saamya Biotech's products is under consideration.

In the first phase, SBL would manufacture Daunomycin and Hyaluronic acid (both Cosmetic and Pharma grades) followed by Cyclosporin A. Subsequently, a number of products like Probiotics, Lysergic acid, Tacrolimus, Mycophenolic acid, Clavulenic acid, Vancomycin, Co-enzyme Q10, Interferon â, and monoclonal antibodies (anti-cancer) will be introduced in phases.

Saamya has signed an agreement with American Bio Sources (ABS), US A, on technology transfer of emerging biotech products and establishing a joint venture company.

Italy-based Finchimica has entered into 100 per cent buyback agreement with Saamya to market Saamya's products internationally.
