Sagar Apollo Hospital to take off as world-class facility within easy reach of people

The entrepreneurial and management venture by the Sagar Group and Apollo Group, Sagar Apollo Hospital is slated for inauguration on July 24, 2002 at Bangalore. The hospital with advanced health care facilities in over 50 medical specialities will be inaugurated by the Karnataka chief minister, S M Krishna.

The 250-bed hospital has come up at an investment cost of around Rs. 95 crore and provides a diaspora of medical services, which includes health insurance. The facilities at the hospital include six presidential suites, 10 day care beds, seven modern operation theatres, 32 general wards for both male and female, 20 private rooms, 20 single deluxe rooms, 78 semi-private beds, 60 beds for intensive care, critical care wing (ICU, ICCU, CCU, NICU), maternity care labour theatre, dialysis unit, state-of-the-art diagnostic services cardiac by pass surgery, hospital on wheels, telemedicine facility and a round-the-clock casualty and emergency unit.

In a press interaction here, Dr. C Pratap Reddy, chairman Apollo Hospital Group, said that the Sagar Apollo Hospitals would be the 23rd medical facility of the Group in the world and his vision was to make India a health care destination. Quoting the new president of India, Dr. Abdul Kalam's foresight that India would be a become a super power in 2020, Dr. Reddy pointed out that health care would be a major indicator for this. India needs 50,000-80,000 beds annually and Apollo was a part of this mission to increase the beds strength. "Healthcare is the largest industry and the highest employer which are yardsticks to gauge the growth of the country," he added.

The hospital would have a holistic approach to medicine. It will also contact philanthropists to sponsor surgeries for poor patients.

Dr. Hemachandra Sagar, chairman Sagar Apollo Hospital said that hospital will combine the reputation of Sagar Group (founded four decades ago, known for pioneering education and healthcare activities) along with the globally recognised expertise of Apollo Group.
