SBF Healthcare demonstrates efficacy of SPMF Therapy in management of brain tumour
Bangalore-based SBF Healthcare and Research Centre Pvt. Ltd. (SBF Healthcare) demonstrated the efficacy of Sequentially Programmed Magnetic Field Therapy (SPMF Therapy) in treating brain tumours.
The Centre through its innovative SPMF Therapy has successfully treated a 55 year old man for Glioblastoma and this innovative treatment protocol is bound to revolutionize the treatment and management of brain tumour.
Glioblastoma is one of the most malignant tumours of the brain with an extremely poor survival period of eight-10 months at recurrence. This kind of tumour has a high rate of recurrence even after being treated by standard modalities of treatment like surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Once the patient is diagnosed with this type of cancer there is almost 100 per cent fatality despite all conventional cancer treatment methods. Recently, Edward Kennedy the last of the Kennedy’s and youngest brother of the former US president John F Kennedy died of this dreadful disorder.
The case study of Bhagavathi Perumal offers a new ray of hope in the treatment of brain tumour the incidence of which is increasing globally. The patient had a fall and seizure leading to loss of consciousness. The MRI scan revealed a mass in the left frontal lobe region of the brain, suggesting a tumour. He underwent surgery for removal of the tumour and post which radiation therapy was administered from January 2008 to April 2008. But in December 2008 he had another seizure followed by weakness affecting the right side of the body. An MRI was taken and it revealed that the tumour had reappeared. In January 2009 he underwent another surgery and his neuro surgeon expected him to survive for not more than three months.
Dr V G Vasishta, founder and CEO, SBF Healthcare, on seeing the patient’s case study was convinced that SPMF Therapy could be best treatment protocol. Accordingly Bhagavathi Perumal was put on SPMF Therapy for 28 days from April 4 to May 1, 2009. MRI scan, post SMPF therapy, showed a gradual decrease in the size of the tumour and follow-up MRI’s taken at six and 12 months revealed a gradual but steady decrease in the size of the tumour. Thanks to the SPMF Therapy the patient, who was expected to survive for not more than three months, has now survived for three years, thereby proving the efficacy of the new treatment protocol.
SBF Healthcare commenced operations in 2006 to offer treatment for Osteoarthritis and Cancer using Sequentially Programmed Magnetic Field (SPMF) Therapy. According to the Centre, the SBF’s treatment has benefitted patients from 33 countries driving Bengaluru as a medical treatment destination.
