SCHOTT Glass’ FIOLAX Academy attracted more than 70 Indian pharma executives to a unique training initiative.  At this signature event, SCHOTT experts shared valuable information about composition, properties and production of high-quality pharmaceutical glass tubing. The programme has been carefully designed to help participants improve the quality standards of their company’s processes and products. The academy is named after SCHOTT FIOLAX glass tubing, the most frequently used glass tubing for manufacturing primary pharmaceutical packaging globally.

“The excellent participation shows the appreciation for such specialized intensive program in India. Quality in glass tubing for primary packaging is crucial for India’s prospering pharmaceutical industry. With such training events, we help our partners raise the quality and efficiency standards of the whole value chain,” said Sundeep Prabhu, vice president marketing and sales, tubing division, SCHOTT Glass India at the event organized on 26th April in Mumbai. “This great traction encourages us to organize more such initiatives.”

At the seminar, Dr Bettine Boltres, product manager, pharmaceutical tubing, presented customized training modules on topics like reduction of breakage risks, drug-container interaction, hydrolytic resistance of glass containers, surface alkalinity and pH shift, so-called extractables & leachables, protein adsorption and light protection to show that all glasses are not the same.

SCHOTT holds FIOLAX Academy events in leading pharmaceutical markets all over the world. With this academy, SCHOTT Glass India continues to offer opportunities to leading pharmaceutical companies to learn more about the benefits of using primary pharmaceutical packaging made of high quality glass.

Manufactured at five state-of-the-art production facilities around the world, including Jambusar in Gujarat, SCHOTT FIOLAX is used to produce high-quality primary packaging products like syringes, vials, ampoules and cartridges. Each year, SCHOTT produces around one million kilometers of pharmaceutical tubing – that is 25 times the circumference of the earth.

Thanks to worldwide uniform standards from all its manufacturing sites, SCHOTT is always able to provide customers with high quality products. Earlier this year, SCHOTT was appointed to Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to advise CHD-10 - a subcommittee of the Chemicals Department. Schott provides CHD-10 specifications and guidelines for various kinds of glass manufacturing in India, including pharmaceutical tubing, fire-safe glass, household appliances and fiber optics.
