Schott’s pharmaceutical tubing unit in Gujarat recently won the excellence award in the green manufacturing units category of the VNM TV’s prestigious environmental excellence awards competition. This recognition identifies Schott’s pursuits in contributing to sustainable growth.
In order to win the competition, Schott’s pharmaceutical tubing unit showcased all its activities that are carried out to conserve environment, such as rainwater harvesting, solar photovoltaic installation for clean energy generation, auto pumps and water level sensors and installation of high efficiency energy saving pumps.
It was also recognized that the plant uses sky light during day time, less polluting fuels like liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas for production and material movement, and sewage treatment plants discharge for gardening. Schott has specialized waste management systems, common transport facility and environment, health and safety certifications (EHS).
These environmental friendly practices were displayed through write ups and pictorial presentations which were judged by jury members like B R Naidu, additional director and zonal officer, CPCB; C B Upasini, a prominent environmentalist and Dr Anil Kane, president, World Wind Energy Association. The award was given away by Rajmata Shubhangi Devi Gaekwad in a special award function organized by VNM TV.
