SCRFI to hold its first annual meet and conference from Jan29 to February 1, 07

Stem Cell Research Forum of India (SCRFI) jointly with Department of Biotechnology is hosting its First Annual Meeting and International Conference on Stem Cell Research in Bangalore from January 29 to February 1, 2007.

This initiative is one of its kind and a platform for harmonising stem cell biologists and clinicians within and outside the country. Leading stem cell scientists from India and abroad will participate in this four-day conference in order to develop a multi-disciplinary network. The conference may lead to sustained network of stem cell researchers as well as long-term collaborative research proposals.

There has been increasing activity in stem cell research in India over the past few years, in both the public and private sectors. India's initiatives in developing stem cell research are encouraging and reflect a growing worldwide trend that shows broadening government concern and support for stem cell research.

Stem cell researchers have already achieved some encouraging results in India. The right policies, public-private partnership, funding and an increasing scientific base now contributing towards strengthening India's global position in stem cell research over the coming years.

SCRFI is a society for stem sells research aiming to bring together the stakeholders from the fields of biological and medical sciences, promote scientific research in stem cell biology and improve scientific understanding in the field. SCRFI strives to be the focal point for stem cell centres globally and help find treatment and cures for a wide range of diseases.
